Wild Animals Like You’ve Never Seen Them Before

Tim Flach needs to teach an animal photography class, if he doesn’t already. His portraits have magnificently captured the beauty of each animal in a way we don’t see too often (the lion and panda are my favourites). By placing the subject (in this case, wild animals) in an unfamiliar backdrop, Tim uses the defamiliarization technique to make us see the animals differently, thus enhancing our perception.

These stunning photographs, along with many more, appear in Tim’s recently published book entitled More than Human.
