These Brazilian Fish Are a Cool Drink of Water

Plastic bottles + fish = incongruous. A disastrous combination, for sure. But not at the UN Conference on Sustainable Development recently held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where the fish were actually made from the bottles. Hundreds of plastic bottles that otherwise would’ve ended up in a landfill were “recycled” into a giant outdoor art installation on Rio’s Botafogo Beach, under the banner “Recicle Suas Atitudes” (“Recycle Your Attitude”). The sculptures take the shape of a school of fish that, at night, are illuminated with vibrant colors that put on quite a show. More photos are available via the Rio+20 Flickr stream.
