The World’s Most Dangerous Path

An increasing number of adrenalin junkies have been flocking to what has been dubbed the most dangerous path on Earth, a walkway that makes China’s Walk of Faith look like a walk in the park. El Caminito del Rey, which translates to the King’s Pathway, is a 110 year old dilapidated walkway over 330 feet above the ground in El Chorro, Spain.

The trail was originally built in 1905 for workers to travel between two hydroelectric power plants. After two workers fell to their deaths in 2000 the trail was closed.

Most of the one-metre-wide pathway has no handrails, rusty supports, and sections that have literally fallen down. Plans to make the pathway more safe are underway, which has sparked a frenzy of travelers flocking to the area in order to walk the path before the $8.3 million restoration project begins.
