This might just be what our future workspace looks like. The BendDesk by the Media Computing Group is a prototype multi-touch desk environment that allows continuous interaction between the horizontal and vertical workspaces. This is quite different from the typical work environment you see today, which consists of a vertical computer screen sitting on top a larger flat horizontal area.
The group took what used to be separate and distinct horizontal and vertical spaces on traditional desks and combined them with a curve into one large interactive workspace.
The large continuous workspace can be used to display any digital content such as documents, photos, or videos. By incorporating multi-touch technology the user can interact with the entire surface using direct manipulation and multi-touch gestures.
