That’s Not a Tree, It’s a Cell Phone Tower

So who said cell phone towers have to stand out like a sore thumb? Since more and more people are using cell phones, there has been an increase in demand for cell phone towers. Many telecommunication companies have created camouflaged towers in order to disguise the large eye sores as trees. Although some are disproportionately tall, the stealth cell phone towers still blend in with their surroundings better than regular towers.

Since 2003 photographer Robert Voit has traveled around the world photographing these artificial trees for his series entitled New Trees. Robert explains “these fake trees take on an absurd dynamism which creates a need for natural artificiality”.
