The award winning Robin’s Way residence was designed by New York based architecture firm Bates Masi and interior designer Athena Calderone. The home is 2000 square feet and built on 1.5 acres in Amagasett, NY.
It’s no wonder that one of the clients is an interior designer, because this home is absolutely stunning. The home underwent a complete renovation to act as the family’s weekend retreat away from their urban apartment. The clients collected photographs of objects and conventional materials being used in new, interesting ways as inspiration for the design.
Uniting the exterior materials is a dark stained cedar siding that wraps all of the exterior facades and transitions to the matching frames of the new windows and doors. The renovated interior walls and interior cabinetry were also resurfaced in reclaimed barn wood. Covered by a sheet of glass, the reclaimed wood also lines the shower causing one to feel as though they are showering outdoors. The clients now have a peaceful escape from busy city life.
