Outpost by Olson Kundig Architects

Headed by world renowned architect Tom Kundig, Olson Kundig Architects have designed Outpost, an artist live/work studio and sculpture garden for making and displaying art. The studio is located in the remote and harsh high desert landscape of Idaho, thus an important element of the design is the thick masonry walls that separate the paradise garden from the surrounding landscape.

The materials used in the structure all require little to no maintenance and are capable of withstanding extreme weather conditions (such as concrete block, car-decking, and plywood). The primary structure was built using concrete block, allowing the builders to quickly and cheaply assemble the building.
