Old Photos Juxtaposed With Their Modern Day Setting

In a technique similar to Ben Heine’s Pencil vs. Camera series, Vietnamese photographer Khánh Hmoong has created this photographic series entitled “Vietnam – Looking Into the Past“. The difference is Hmoong holds up old photographs of Vietnam to their modern day setting, meticulously aligning the historic photograph within the present setting.

By blending images of past and present the viewer is able to see all the changes that have, or have not, taken place. Interestingly enough, the sceneries simultaneously look remarkably different yet remarkably the same – from the architecture, fashion choices, and evolution of transportation. You can see more images from the series over on Hmoong’s Flickr account.
