You might be surprised to learn that our planet is constantly singing to us, until now we just couldn’t hear it. NASA has released a recording of exactly what it sounds like. Take a listen.
Referred to as “Chorus“, NASA explains “Chorus is an electromagnetic phenomenon caused by plasma waves in Earth’s radiation belts. For years, ham radio operators on Earth have been listening to them from afar.” The music is made of radio waves that oscillate at acoustic frequencies between 0 and 10 kHz.

On a mission to find out more information about the beautiful “Earthsong“, NASA’s twin Radiation Belt Storm Probes are currently travelling through the area of space where the music is coming from. ”This is what the radiation belts would sound like to a human being if we had radio antennas for ears” explains Craig Kletzing of the University of Iowa.
