Miniature Human Sculptures Struggle For Power

Brooklyn-based artist Stephen Shaheen‘s work explores the borders between art, design and architecture. After training in Italy as a sculptor, Shaheen earned his MFA from the New York Academy of Art in 2005.

In these cleverly designed sculptures, lightbulbs are fixed as the heads on top of miniature human bodies that appear to be reaching, or struggling, to connect themselves to the power source. One body appears to be blindly crawling away from the power source, while another successfully connects itself allowing the power to stream through its body and light up the next.
