Mechanical Insects Made from Old Watch Parts

Chicago-based jeweler Justin Gershenson-Gates has created these scorpions, spiders, and other insects out of old watch parts, and in some instances light bulbs. His work reminds me of Mike Libby’s work in which he uses the inner workings of antique watches, as well as random components from old typewriters and sewing machines, to reimagine real bugs as works of steampunk art (see These Bugs Got Steampunked). You can purchase some of Justin’s creations via his Etsy shop. Be sure to check out his facebook page and website for more photos of his work.
