Island Paradise Made Of Recycled Plastic Bottles

The video tells it all. Just because you can’t buy an island to call your own, doesn’t mean you can’t create one. Here’s to thinking outside of the box.

Richie Sowa gave up his job as a carpenter and made his very own island paradise out of recycled plastic bottles.

Named Spiral Island, the island uses recycled tires and plastic as its floating foundation. The island also includes a garden where food is grown, including beach grapes, bananas, tulipans, coconut, spinach, almonds and edible fruit cactus. Most of the materials used to build the island are locally harvested, donated or were thrown away and reused by its nomadic inhabitants.
