Cypriot architect Georgios Papadopoulos takes his job very seriously. Not only does he design incredible homes in the real world but the focus of his architectural firm, Skinotechniki, includes the design and construction of “sets for stage, television and film, exhibition stands [and] museums.” He’s recently put the finishing touches on the very swanky home he designed for himself in Lemesos, Cyprus, which was shortlisted for an international award at the 2010 World Architectural Festival in Barcelona, Spain.
Using very basic components—wood, steel, concrete, glass, tile, stone—Papadopoulous has created a masterpiece of open spaces, long passageways, and exposed beams that absolute invites visitors to come in and stay awhile. Vibrant natural colors in the wood and on painted surfaces enhance the Mediterranean feel while the unique angles and integration of curves and lines (particularly in the bathroom) add a very modern touch.
