Wow. Now this is impressive. Honda’s new ASIMO is the world’s most advanced Humanoid robot. It is equipped with the world’s first autonomous behavior control technology.
ASIMO is now able to move continuously without being controlled by an operator. Honda has also greatly improved its intelligence and its physical ability to adapt to changing situations. This is a giant step toward it being able to work in public space.
The humanoid has decision-making capability allowing it to change its behavior according to its surroundings, such as the movements of people. ASIMO can predict the direction a person will walk within the next few seconds based on information from pre-set space sensors. It then uses that information to quickly determine if it should take an alternate path to avoid colliding with the person.
Complete with a multi-fingered hand, ASIMO can perform tasks with dexterity, such as picking up a glass bottle and twisting off the cap, or holding a soft paper cup to pour out liquid without squishing the cup.
