Haute Coiffure: Tim Tadder’s “Water Wigs”

Not sure if I’d be brave enough to throw water balloons at these guys’ heads, but for “visual communicator” Tim Tadder, it’s just another day at the office. Pulling from his life experience as an athlete and lover of adventure, Tadder integrates the skills he’s learned from shooting life in action into his advertising campaign photography. He’s shot for the biggies—Budweiser, Adidas, Gatorade, et al—and clearly has an innate understanding of what makes a shot really stand out. (Seriously, check out his website.)

In this series, Water Wigs, Tadder and his team found some handsome gents sans cheveux, and with the help of some strategically placed water balloons, they were able to capture the exploded water’s shape at the moment of impact, thus creating these killer “water wigs.”
Our favorites are “The Don King,” “The Conquistador,” “The Jesus,” and “The Friar” … We chose to work with triads of colors to create images that are arresting and amusing at the same time. We feel the color helps transform the water into some[thing] more and adds greater visual interest.”
