Felice Varini’s Anamorphic Illusions Will Make You Blink Twice

Felice Varini sees the world differently than most. Using a technique called anamorphosis, the Swiss artist has been busy over the last thirty years creating optical illusions that can only be seen in their intended entirety from a certain angle. Step one degree off your mark, and all you see is a collection of randomly placed chunks from the puzzle. At first glance at the images below, it appears that we are seeing some sort of canvas stretched across a given space, painted with geometric perfection to create a certain impact—that is until we take a step to the right or left, and then the truth of what we’re seeing comes into clear focus. It really does mess with your eyes for the first few scenes, and it’s hard to fathom how a person can see shapes and angles with such precision as to create these optical illusions in the first place. Mind blown. Via Inthralld
