McBride Charles Ryan have designed the Cloud House. The Cloud House is an addition and renovation to a double-fronted Edwardian house in Fitzroy North, a suburb of Melbourne, Australia. Looking at the house from the street you would think it is not much different from the neighbouring homes, but one step inside and you realize how unique this home really is.
When you enter the home you are still in the original structure, which is mostly white in colour. As you move through the space via an exotic floral carpet you meet the heart of the property, a “disintegrated red-coloured box”, serving as the kitchen. The biggest treat of all is the unexpected final space – a cloud-shaped extrusion. The cloud-shape creates a dramatic interior space, where the walls merge seamlessly with the floor and ceiling.
