‘Chasing Ice’ Captures the Earth’s Vanishing Glaciers

In the spring of 2005, environmental photographer James Balog went on a trip to the Arctic on an assignment for National Geographic. His mission was to capture photographs (visual proof) that will help tell the story of climate change. Although he left for the mission a skeptic, when he saw the glacier’s melting away like a popsicle on a summer’s day his life was forever changed.

Chasing Ice is the documentary that tells the story of Balog’s mission to gather the scary, yet undeniable evidence of our changing planet. Along with a group of adventurers, Balog set up revolutionary time-lapse cameras across the Arctic to record the glacier’s changes over several years.

Chasing Ice has won nearly 20 awards at film festivals around the world, including an Excellence in Cinematography Award at the Sundance Film Festival. Visit the film’s official website to learn more.
