Artist Creates ‘Transparent Cabin’ Out Of Wood And Mirrors

Nestled in the Californian desert sits an intriguing transparent cabin, a recent light-based installation by artist Phillip K Smith III in Joshua Tree, California. The optical illusion, which has drawn hundreds of visitors to the area, was created by placing mirrors on the exterior façade and installing LED lights.

The piece, called “Lucid Stead”, completely transformed the 70-year-old abandoned homesteader shack into a structure that constantly contrasts its surrounding environment, as the light changes throughout the day.
