The French Alps has to be amongst the coolest places in the world for a dream ski getaway. And since we’re dreaming, we might as well go big and lodge ourselves at the Chalet Béranger in St. Martin de Belleville. Architect Noé Duchaufour Lawrance went to great lengths to inject elements of the Alps’ awe-inspiring natural beauty into this 5700 sq. ft., three-story chalet with the heavy reliance on wood and stone throughout.
Though the interior has been shaped and colored with a modernist palette—grey and white are dominant, the bed in the master suite seems to float above the floor—Lawrance made sure to sustain the rustic lodgy feeling and build the house with a focus on its users, including a sizable kitchen, game room, a Jacuzzi room, five bedrooms with full baths, as well as a separate 1076 sq. ft. guest house.
