Paris-based architecture firm Atelier Zündel Cristea have proposed this one-of-a-kind design for a bridge made to cross over the Seine River near the Bir-Hakeim Bridge in Paris. The architects wanted to create more than simply just a bridge that would allow for the crossing of pedestrian traffic, rather they also wanted to create a space that would provide those passing by with contemporary urban enjoyment.
The bridge is inflatable and equipped with giant trampolines that are meant to give a joyful release from gravity as one bounces above the river. The bridge is formed of inflatable modules, similar to giant life-preservers, that are 30 meters in diameter. A mesh trampoline is stretched across the center and floating buoys, fabricated in PVC membrane, are attached together to form a stable and self-supporting whole.
