At a pace never before achieved in history, Broad Group, a construction company that specializes in sustainable architecture, has built a 30-story building in 15 days. The remarkable time-lapse video (below) was shot over the course of just 360 hours and shows a 328-foot-tall tower rise from an empty site.
The structure was built using prefabricated modules that were mounted on a steel structure. According to Zhang Yue, founder of Broad Group, his prefabricated buildings will help solve a major problem in the construction industry. He explains “Traditional construction is chaotic. We took construction and moved it into the factory.”
If the speediness in construction was not enough to make your jaw drop, Broad claims that the building is also five times more energy efficient than most, featuring a heat recovery system and an air filtration system that purifies air making the air indoors 20 times more pure than the air outdoors.
To date, Broad has built 16 structures in China and another one in Cancun, Mexico. The structures are fabricated at two factories in Hunan. Broad’s future plans include using similar methods to build the world’s tallest building in only 7 months. [Wired]
