In 1964 the US Surgeon General officially informed the public that tobacco can actually be fatal. It’s been 50 years since that day, so perhaps it might be fun to look back on some of the ridiculous ads released back in a time when smoking was hip and even believed to be a safe cure for asthma, hay-fever, and influenza.
Clearly people at this time were incredibly naive as to the dangers of smoking, which makes me wonder what sort of wide-spread misinformation is occurring right now. Surely there is something we all believe today that future generations will also deem laughable. [via Gizmodo]
